< DIY > - photo explosion box

about a year ago, i made this picture box as a wedding anniversary to one of my dear friends. it's one of my favorite projects that i've done. the apt was a mess for a few days, but well worth it. i loved how it turned out. i wish i would have taken more photos of the the inside and the process of it.

i got this idea from one of my crafty friends. i'll post up the explosion box that my friend made for me within the next few days. i have to take some photos of it first.

the display case is semi-custom made. i bought a baseball display case from michaels. the cover for it didn't fit, so i went to tap plastics and had them cut up acrylic clear plastic and i glued it together.

i got the colors from her wedding colors. i saved the invitations, etc and brought it all with me to michaels and tried to match it as close as possible. and the top portion of the cover (their initials), was from her wedding invitation.

the photos that i used was mostly photos that my guy took. he got some good shots :).

i think this project was the project that brought back my inspiration in art, design, etc. i'm glad i took pictures of this before i gave it away. just brings back joy.

and now i'm on the hunt for my next "crafty" project.

photo project...

i've been trying to figure out a new project for me to work work on and and ran into a great idea from photojojo. they featured an article about a 365 take a photo a day. since we're almost half way through the year, i thought i might try and attempt to do this starting next month til the end of the year. i know it'll take a lot of dedication to do this daily. i'm curious to see what photos i end up taking. i'm not much of a photographer, but i think it'll be fun.

coffee sleeve

i was browsing the lovely etsy website and saw this adorable cable knit coffee cozy by wayside violet. so cute...

i'm currently a beginner in knitting and have tried to attempt to make a scarf, but never ended up finishing it (because i messed it up some how) and never got around to trying to fixing it.

now that i've seen this great idea, i think i want to try this out since it's a small project that seems doable and i can make several of them :).

in the next couple of weeks, i'll have to go to michaels and get my materials to get this project started...great stocking stuffer for the holidays. very eco-friendly ^_^.

inspiration board

i was inspired the other day by made by girl the other day, to make my own inspiration board. (image courtesy of madebygirl.blogspot.com)

i recently have purchased a plain black board from walmart that only cost me about $12! what a bargain. but after reading the post from made by girl, i feel the need to spice it up a bit and maybe look for a better frame to vamp it up. so right now, i'm on the hunt for the perfect frame! (so blah!)

i also saw this nice picture frame from ikea, and thought about maybe turning it into an inspiration board. i love the glam look of it and loving the black, makes it more dramatic. i'll post it up once i get a chance on getting this project started and finished :). (image courtesy of ikea)
