< DIY > - photo explosion box

about a year ago, i made this picture box as a wedding anniversary to one of my dear friends. it's one of my favorite projects that i've done. the apt was a mess for a few days, but well worth it. i loved how it turned out. i wish i would have taken more photos of the the inside and the process of it.

i got this idea from one of my crafty friends. i'll post up the explosion box that my friend made for me within the next few days. i have to take some photos of it first.

the display case is semi-custom made. i bought a baseball display case from michaels. the cover for it didn't fit, so i went to tap plastics and had them cut up acrylic clear plastic and i glued it together.

i got the colors from her wedding colors. i saved the invitations, etc and brought it all with me to michaels and tried to match it as close as possible. and the top portion of the cover (their initials), was from her wedding invitation.

the photos that i used was mostly photos that my guy took. he got some good shots :).

i think this project was the project that brought back my inspiration in art, design, etc. i'm glad i took pictures of this before i gave it away. just brings back joy.

and now i'm on the hunt for my next "crafty" project.

photo project...

i've been trying to figure out a new project for me to work work on and and ran into a great idea from photojojo. they featured an article about a 365 take a photo a day. since we're almost half way through the year, i thought i might try and attempt to do this starting next month til the end of the year. i know it'll take a lot of dedication to do this daily. i'm curious to see what photos i end up taking. i'm not much of a photographer, but i think it'll be fun.

i found this website through made by girl and it's been one of my favorite sites for inspiration.

i want that couch! they look so comfortable and i love how deep the seating is. i can just see myself falling asleep on that. and the wall of windows makes you want to sit there all day and just enjoy that view. i wouldn't mind having that dog either ^_^.

yay, it's suppose to be a nice rainy weekend. it's been a while since we've had rain. too bad it won't be pouring rain. we're suppose to go to the beach and the park, but i guess that might have to have to change. i'm going to try and stay dry and enjoy this weather.

have a good weekend ^_^

backup...

i just double checked my external hard drive and my online photo storage and realized that not all my photos are backed up.

so i guess for the new few days i have to play catch up and backup the rest of my photos. i've learned the hard way that i MUST do this on a regular basis. so i back up my photos at least 2x/month. photos are so precious and priceless. i don't want to loose any more.

i thought i was all caught up backing up my photos, but i guess i missed some old ones. this is going to be one semi-big project.

good reads??...

i've finally finished reading One Fifth Avenue, by Candace Bushnell, and am looking for a new book to read. i think i want to read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. which will be a featured film coming out in June starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin. hmmm, i better buy that book soon and/or find a new book.

so lately i've been hearing alot about this power couple because of their twitter. i myself don't have a twitter account, but i seem to hear a lot about them lately online or on tv. and i remembered reading an article in architectural digest a few years ago that featured their home. so i figured, i should post it up.

great way to bring the outdoors in with the floor to ceiling windows.

the backyard pool area looks so perfect. i think i'm going to have to get one of these houses one of these days.
